My name is Rita. I was born and raised in Greenfield, PA, a neighborhood in Pittsburgh. It was here that I met my husband Marco, when I was just 18 years old. Over the last 44 years, we have created a wonderful life.
We are the parents to three amazing children -- Christina, Micheal and Marc, who is profoundly disabled and lives with us because he requires constant care.
In 2019, a lung infection sent me to the hospital. I was there for 8 weeks, and although I survived,
my kidneys began to fail because of my sickness.
For more than three years now, I’ve endured daily dialysis treatments because of that kidney failure. My doctors have now told me that I need a kidney from a living donor to survive. However, finding a kidney for a transplant is not easy. Just ask the 100,000+ people on the waiting list for a kidney like me. Time is not on our side.
Some wait for years; many die while waiting.
A transplant would give me more time to spend time with those important to me and who depend on me,
including my husband, our children, and my elderly parents.
If donating a kidney to me is something you would like to consider, I would be happy to tell you more
about my story and explore the process of determining if you are a match for me.
Contact me anytime at rpompeo@comcast.net and (412) 721-3337 or
by reaching out to my transplant hospital directly at (216) 445-3150.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
